MHA Center for Rural Health’s goal is to improve the financial, operational, and clinical performance of small and rural hospitals. Strategies to accomplish this goal include expert on-site consultation, performance improvement tools, and state-wide training.
Through a variety of HRSA and ORHP grants and local Networks (Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Program, Rural Hospital Performance Improvement Project, Small Hospital Improvement Program, Delta Health Alliance Grant and the Delta Rural Health Network), the Center for Rural Health is providing the following technical assistance and services:
- Chargemaster Review and Analysis – 36 hospitals
- Coding Audits and Coding Services – 22 hospitals
- Automated Pharmacy Management Systems – 17 hospitals
- Master Facility Planning – 13 hospitals
- Balanced Scorecard – 6 hospitals
- Community Engagement (Rural Health Works) – 8 hospitals
- Performance Improvement Assessments – 18 hospitals
- JCAHO Continuous Survey Readiness Program – 11 hospitals
- Emergency Room Data Management Program (ER STAT) – 5 hospitals
- Group Purchasing Contracts (Discounts) with nine Business Partners – 27 hospitals
- Mock Surveys (State & Federal Regulations) – 24 hospitals
- Financial Feasibility Studies – 26 hospitals
- TelEmergency Services – 14 hospitals
- Educational Seminars: CAH Economics, Renovation and Replacement, Accessing Capital, Case Management, Reducing Medication Errors, Rural Health Clinic Regulations & Reimbursement, Financial Performance.
- The Center publishes regular updates on state and federal regulations and interpretive guidelines.
In addition to these services, the Center for Rural Health offers an assortment of assessments, surveys, trainings, and other educational tools for small and rural hospitals. The Center also provides management services to the Delta Rural Health Network.
